Not Your Mother’s® NATURALS

As most of you know, I have naturally curly hair that more often than not, gives me the blues. Over the past couple of months, I fell into a routine that I really liked for my hair. I would wash it with conditioner, put in all my styling products and then braid it up for the night. The next day I would usually take down the braids to reveal crinkly curls that last about 3-5 days. I’m a very lazy natural because I do this every week and leave it alone until it is time to wash it again. Occasionally, I do re-braid it, but I mostly just put it up into a big ‘ol puff.

I noticed that my hair wasn’t really maintaining length even with my super simple routine and products that contained little to no protein. I realized that my detangling method was the problem, which you can read about here. Two weeks ago I did my six month trim that I so desperately needed and ran across a natural hair care line that really took me by surprise.

I am not a hair care junkie by any means. When I find a product that really works for my hair, I will stick to it and repurchase it. I do wish that I was good at making my own products, but I’ve tried and my hair does NOT respond well whatsoever.

Anyway, the product line that I ran across was Not Your Mother’s® Naturals line that has a nice variety to choose from. Sometimes, you have to choose them all though. Every product is only $9 and every now and then Ulta has a buy one get one 50% sale. I’m not much of a bargainer, but that’s a steal!

Initially, I chose the Coconut Milk & African Marula Tree Oil Smoothing Cream and the Tahitian Gardenia Flower & Mango Butter Curl Defining Combing Cream. Yes, I know…such a mouthful! I’ve never actually been in love with a hair care product until I tried these products. My hair stays moisturized for at least three days and doesn’t even frizz up too much in the humid weather. NO natural product has ever been able to do that for my hair EVER!

What I love most about these products is that you can use them together without getting a white cast on your hair or crazy product build-up. I try to use at least two together and that gives me the best styles I’ve ever had. Also, my hair is starting to retain length again AND even getting longer.

Today I plan on trying out the Royal Honey and Kalahari Desert Melon Leave- in Conditioner along with the Curl Defining Combing Cream (pink bottle) to see what effect that gives me. So wish me luck!

If you’re a curly natural too or even have curly/wavy hair then give these products a try because they smell good, they work and they’re inexpensive! If you’re not a fan of heavy creams that may leave a greasy feeling in your hair then I do not recommend this product for you. I prefer it because my hair sucks up everything.

What are some hair care products that you are in love with?
