Bodysuit & Jeans Outfit of the Day

Fashion, Lifestyle, simplicity, Slow Fashion, style, Uncategorized

Welcome back to Fashion Fridays! Is it just me or are these weeks just going by super fast? I feel like I was just typing up last Fridays fashion post. Today’s post is going to be a little bit shorter as well as a little different than my last few outfit of the days.

So, of course, I’m going to show my favorite outfit of the week because I don’t know if you guys realized but that’s what I’ve been doing in my last few Friday posts. Anyway, the focus of this post is my new bodysuit and my hair.

I purchased this very pretty bodysuit from American Eagle and let me tell you…it’s really soft! I normally have issues with bodysuits fitting a little tight because of my long torso but this one is actually all right. I’m really like the lace-up trend because it really flatters us girls with itty bitty boobies and gives the illusion of cleavage.

The jeans are also from American Eagle and I wear these all the time. I want to say that they are my favorite, but I also really love my Lucky Brand Jeans. Am I allowed to have more than one favorite jean?

Now let’s talk about these shoes real quick. My mom gave me these because she couldn’t fit them. YAY for bomb hand me downs right?! These are Lucky Brand ballet flats and I’m in love because they actually look like ballet slippers. Also, I’m really fond of Lucky Brand because the quality of the majority of their products is amazing!

Okay now onto the hair. So I’ve been protective styling my hair like a mad woman because my hair keeps plateauing right at armpit length. I find myself trimming my ends quite a bit because they’re thin and have a ton of split ends. Out of frustration and a little desperation, I have been keeping my hair up and out of the way in hopes, I’ll start seeing more growth.

Annnd that is all for today, you guys. I hope you all enjoyed this fashion post. I really want to get better at taking these pictures and making them look a little more professional. Thanks for reading!

Good Hair Day and OOTD

Fashion, Hair Care, Lifestyle, Natural, simplicity, Slow Fashion, style

It seems like I’m always trying to get my hair to do right the majority of the time. Most of the time it sits just fine on top my cute little head until about Day 4. At that point, it gets dry, tangled and dull looking.

I’m aware that all I need to do is add moisture back, which I typically do but for some reason, it just never truly gets moisturized. So, I’m not going to make this all long and drawn out, but last night I did an Ayurveda oil pre-poo and then I conditioned just like normal. When I was drying my hair it was soaking wet and continued to drip water as I was braiding it….this never EVER happens. My hair is usually dry within 15 minutes after washing. This is when I realized that my hair wasn’t retaining moisture like it should be and was literally sucking up any moisture that it possibly could. I will expand on the Ayurveda world in another blog post.

Anyway, this is my hair (spot the tiny feather) today as well as my outfit of the day. These Madewell shorts are everything to me. I was getting real sick of denim shorts riding up in the hot, humid weather.

They’re not too loose but not too tight and they sit perfectly just below my natural waist. I love how lightweight the cotton/viscose fabric is and it’s just great to wear in this hot summer weather.

The coolest part is that the shorts have these ties on the side that give the shorts a little more oomph. The only thing is, I wish these had pockets!! Pockets are always welcome in my wardrobe!

I paired the wonderful shorts with a bodysuit, which I did on a whim because I need to wash my white shirts. I actually like the look of the bodysuit almost better than a regular white tee. I think I may need a white bodysuit…

Well, that’s it for today. I promise I will give an update on the Ayurvedic hair treatments because that is something I NEED to talk about. Catch me on Wednesday for another post about something!

Not Your Mother’s® NATURALS

Beauty, Hair Care, Lifestyle, Natural, simplicity

As most of you know, I have naturally curly hair that more often than not, gives me the blues. Over the past couple of months, I fell into a routine that I really liked for my hair. I would wash it with conditioner, put in all my styling products and then braid it up for the night. The next day I would usually take down the braids to reveal crinkly curls that last about 3-5 days. I’m a very lazy natural because I do this every week and leave it alone until it is time to wash it again. Occasionally, I do re-braid it, but I mostly just put it up into a big ‘ol puff.

I noticed that my hair wasn’t really maintaining length even with my super simple routine and products that contained little to no protein. I realized that my detangling method was the problem, which you can read about here. Two weeks ago I did my six month trim that I so desperately needed and ran across a natural hair care line that really took me by surprise.

I am not a hair care junkie by any means. When I find a product that really works for my hair, I will stick to it and repurchase it. I do wish that I was good at making my own products, but I’ve tried and my hair does NOT respond well whatsoever.

Anyway, the product line that I ran across was Not Your Mother’s® Naturals line that has a nice variety to choose from. Sometimes, you have to choose them all though. Every product is only $9 and every now and then Ulta has a buy one get one 50% sale. I’m not much of a bargainer, but that’s a steal!

Initially, I chose the Coconut Milk & African Marula Tree Oil Smoothing Cream and the Tahitian Gardenia Flower & Mango Butter Curl Defining Combing Cream. Yes, I know…such a mouthful! I’ve never actually been in love with a hair care product until I tried these products. My hair stays moisturized for at least three days and doesn’t even frizz up too much in the humid weather. NO natural product has ever been able to do that for my hair EVER!

What I love most about these products is that you can use them together without getting a white cast on your hair or crazy product build-up. I try to use at least two together and that gives me the best styles I’ve ever had. Also, my hair is starting to retain length again AND even getting longer.

Today I plan on trying out the Royal Honey and Kalahari Desert Melon Leave- in Conditioner along with the Curl Defining Combing Cream (pink bottle) to see what effect that gives me. So wish me luck!

If you’re a curly natural too or even have curly/wavy hair then give these products a try because they smell good, they work and they’re inexpensive! If you’re not a fan of heavy creams that may leave a greasy feeling in your hair then I do not recommend this product for you. I prefer it because my hair sucks up everything.

What are some hair care products that you are in love with?
