The “Hangover” Routine

So last night I went out, as I do most summer nights on the weekend. I went to my favorite rooftop and basically kicked off my Summer by drinking (alcoholic)  peach slushies on a nice warm summer night.

Naturally, I woke up in the morning feeling kind of blah and dehydrated. I won’t go as far as to say I was hungover, but I was feeling some after effects for sure. So of course, I have a whole routine to bring me back to life…especially my skin.

First off I start by going ham with the water. I’ve probably had about four or five glasses of water today and I’m still so thirsty. I like to drink alkaline water because it supposedly rids the body of toxins…but I also like my good ‘ol filtered water too.

For whatever reason, my nail polish always gets chipped on one or two of my nails whenever I go out. Last night, they got pretty messed up somehow, so the blue will be coming off right after this blog post. Any good nail polish color recommendations?

As I’m typing this, I have a hydrating mask on my face. I have the Farmacy Honey Potion on to be exact. This mask never fails to make my skin feel so smooth and look glowy, which is great after a night out drinking.

Normally, I would include a lip mask as well, but I currently don’t have one on me. I like to get the sheet lip masks from Sephora for $3. They actually do work especially after a good lip scrub!

Last, but not least, I rest! I use this time to catch up on my shows and get some much-needed sleep. It’s great to go out and enjoy yourself, but it’s even better to take care of yourself after a long night. I’m a huge fan of pampering myself even if I have no reason to! I plan to write more about self-pampering in the near future because it’s so important!

That’s it for tonight, you guys. As always, thanks for reading!

The “Hangover” Routine

Back at it again with the CLEAN EATING

Ever since I’ve gotten back from Miami, I’ve been eating not so clean. I haven’t been eating extremely bad either just not as clean as I normally do. I’ve been going out a whole lot more than usual since the weather is warmer. What can I say? I love rooftop bars!

It’s no secret that alcohol isn’t great for you and neither is most bar food. So, today I took it upon myself to go to the grocery store and buy whole foods. That’s not to say I won’t be going to the rooftops anymore, but I am going to be a whole lot more mindful of my intake of well anything again.

Before Miami, I was eating more salads, drinking more water and eating frozen and canned vegetables. Now, I’m taking it a bit further and I plan on eating fresh veggies that I can eat raw, steam, or sauté. Of course, I’m still going to be eating salads, but I want to start eating more of them more often.

As for meat goes, I’m already a chicken and seafood girl and only indulge in red meat very rarely. As I’m typing this I am eating a salad that has lettuce (duh,) green onions and cucumbers with some salt and pepper and homemade honey mustard dressing.

One cool thing I noticed while shopping today, the vegetables (lettuce, green onions) smelled extremely fresh like they were pulled straight from the dirt earlier this morning.  I am very much here for that!

Also, it might as well be Summer now because I found a really fresh watermelon that is so sweet! Look for black spots on the melon. This shows that bees have pollinated the watermelon, which gives it that sweet flavor! Fun fact!

Well, that’s all for today. I wanted to get back on my clean eating game and include you guys in it. So, I hope you enjoyed this post! Thanks for reading.

Welcome to D.C., Ladurée

About two weeks ago Ladurée opened up in Georgetown, D.C. I think we all know that that is a blogger’s paradise. I’m honestly not one to be attracted to places like that other than the macarons of course. However, I really enjoyed my time at the Parisian tea room. I wish I would have taken more pictures of the décor because it was so bright and different from other places in D.C. I plan to go again, so I’ll take more pictures next time.

Since I consider myself kind of a foodie (how pretentious of me) I mainly took photos of the food and the way it was presented. So I’m not great at French so I’m going to just say what I got in English. I ordered boiled eggs over toast and truffle potato bites.

The food was so fresh and flavorful but that was to be expected from a place like this! Of course, I had to get some macarons, not to be confused with macaroons. I was surprised because Olivia Macaron tastes so similar to the Ladurée macarons. If you like Ladurée macarons then you’ll like Olivia’s too.

So, not only did they open a location in Georgetown they opened one in Union Station as well. It’s a small little kiosk that can almost barely be seen, but it’s there! So that’s all today. I thought I would take you on a small journey into D.C. life! Oh and let me just include my outfit and then I’m signing off!
