Sweater Dresses for Fall

Fashion, Lifestyle, Minimalism, simplicity, Slow Fashion, style, Uncategorized

Once again, welcome back to Fashion Fridays. Today’s Fashion Friday will be a little bit different than my normal outfit share. Today I’m just going to show you all this recent purchase that I think is an amazing addition to my fall/winter capsule and my wardrobe in general.

The other day, I was on the hunt for sweater dresses. There are SO many options out there right now due to the current season being fall. Now, I didn’t want to be too cheap about my choice because I would want my dresses to last me a few years; not just a season. I ended up deciding on two sweater dresses – one for now, one for later.

The sweater dress, for now, is a nice soft lighter sweater material that is perfect for those cool to warm to cool days. The sweater dress for later is a cashmere turtleneck option that is pretty much guaranteed to keep me warm during the cold winter.  I was thinking of even adding another heavier knit option just to have another extra option. We will see about that though.

fullsizeoutput_40a.jpegMy first dress I bought right away because I was near the store & Other Stories that day. They have an amazing collection of sweater dresses both in-store and online. I ended up with a black sweater dress with one single white stripe across the sleeves and bodice. This dress screams “me!

I knew this was a good purchase of $85 because I began to daydream of the different ways I was going to wear this dress. This is why I love fall. You can buy such a simple item and layer it in so many different ways as well as change from sneakers to boots and your outfit is different every time.

The cashmere sweater dress that I want is from Everlane and retails at $155. So…I am definitely waiting on that one for awhile. If I do so happen to find a chunky knit sweater dress I will be sure to showcase it on here :).

That’s it for today! Talk to you guys next week!

IT Cosmetics’ CC Cream

Beauty, Lifestyle, Minimalism, simplicity, skincare, Uncategorized

Hello hello there! It feels like its been weeks since the last time I posted, but I know its only been about two days if that. Today I’m doing a quick review on a skincare/beauty/makeup product. You guys know how I love to keep it as simple as possible…even when I can go on a rant. Anyway, let’s get started.

IMG_8483

So I’ve been looking for a really good tinted moisturizer/BB cream/CC cream for a WHILE now. Pretty much, I’ve been looking for a foundation with a decent SPF in it. I’ve used Lancome Teint Idole before and I loved it. However, it oxidizes into an orange like color on my skin and I’m not a huge fan of that, to be honest. So I ran across IT Cosmetics’ CC Cream. I went for the illuminating formula because why not? Since I’m reviewing it you already know I like it! Here’s why:

  • Contains SPF 50
  • Has UVA & UVB protection
  • Is Full Coverage
  • Color Corrects (seriously!)
  • Is hydrating
  • Does not oxidize into a crazy color
  • It Glows!

Okay, so when I say it glows…it actually contains glitter or a glitter like substance. I love this because I tend to like satin finishes on my skin versus dewy or completely matte. Also, I’m heavy handed with the highlighter so during the day I don’t have to wear a highlighter now.

IMG_8436

Most foundations or tinted moisturizers with SPF have the tendency to oxidize in a really noticeable way. And if I mix my sunscreen with a foundation, there’s always a strange gray tint and my face gets oily halfway through the day. With this CC Cream, I don’t experience any of those things. I was also pretty shocked when I came home after a full day with this still on my face!

IMG_4816

I hope this CC cream continues to be great because I love it so much right now. It is basically the equivalent of my Becca Ever Matte Foundation but for the daytime. I’m in love. Thanks for reading!

A DIY Halloween Costume

Beauty, Fashion, Lifestyle, Minimalism, simplicity, style, Uncategorized

Tomorrow is Halloween you guys and I would be excited except I already partied over the weekend. I had my little fun, but now its time to get back to work and reality. I’m not one to buy a costume nor DIY this super intricate one either. My costumes tend to be pretty last minute and I almost always own the things that I need.

This year I went as a ninja…okay, a sexy ninja. I wasn’t really going for the typical sexy look, but hey it happens! So really all I did was wear my usual going out clothes which is high waisted leggings and a crop top – black of course. I went with a sleeveless turtleneck this time. I ordered a really cheap ($7) ski mask (2pack) off of Amazon and just wore the bottom part to cover my mouth and nose. You can also just tie a bandana or forgo both and wear a hoodie. The look is pretty much complete, but if you want to, you can cut some stockings into removable sleeves. I did this and I felt that it tied the costume together.

Of course, since my eyes were the only thing showing, I went really dark with my eye makeup. I used my brand new ABH Subculture palette and did a purple, rust, and dark brown smoky eye. I also twisted my hair into four flat twists because I felt that a fro or a puff would take away from the ninja-ness.

If you don’t want to be this sexy, you can always change up the costume however you want. I did plan on wearing another costume tomorrow if I were to attend a party. I was going to wear the same outfit sans ski mask and add a tutu. I would probably just wear a long sleeve shirt versus a crop top as well. Instant ballerina. I DIY my costumes every year and I just use clothes that I already wear!

I hope you all liked this post, thanks for reading.

Post Travel Skin Care Routine

Beauty, Lifestyle, Natural, simplicity, skincare, Uncategorized

My skin has been the worst since I’ve gotten back from my trip. In fact, it was pretty bad during my trip. I mean I did travel to three different provinces within Spain, so that’s three very different climates. It was as if I was a hormonal teenager all over again. My skin went from oily to dry back to oily in just a week.

The funny thing is that I brought sheet masks with me, but every time I had a little bit of downtime from being all touristy…I was entirely too lazy to put on a mask. Even when I returned, I was still way too lazy (and tired) to put on a measly little sheet mask. So yesterday, (I got back last Thursday) I finally decided to do my full skincare routine – mask included.

IMG_8332

By that point, I had to bring out the big guns because my skin was looking really rough. I pulled out my May Lindstrom the Problem Solver, mixed that bad boy up with some water, and lathered the mixture onto my face. I let that sit for about 10 minutes and I could really feel the tingling. I washed that off and my skin really did thank me by being extra smooth and somehow less heavy. The May Lindstrom comes in this giant jar that retails at exactly $100. It comes with enough powder to last years. Honestly, they could make the jar much smaller and retail it at $50 and an even smaller one at $25. Why is this jar so big?

IMG_3929

I also started using Sunday Riley’s facial oils and my face LOVES them so much. My mom let me siphon some of hers so that I didn’t have to spend an arm and a leg on my own. My favorite one so far is the Juno because it really does give your skin a nice glow when it’s dull looking. I like to use the Juno along with the Luna to create a power couple for my skin. The Luna makes my pores appear smaller and the Juno makes my skin glow…what a match right? Of course, after my masks treatment, I put the Juno as the bottom layer, a cream moisturizer, and then finally the Luna as the top layer. The Luna oil contains retinol which can be harsh, so I like a nice thin buffer before adding it on.

IMG_3925

I woke up this morning with a nice clean canvas. I like to save this routine (mainly the May Lindstrom) for when I am in serious need of a deep pore cleansing treatment. I wasn’t too aware that traveling could really do a number on your skin. Seriously…do the mask when you first arrive at your hotel or else your skin will rebel!

Thanks for reading, catch you all on Friday.

ABH Subculture Palette

Beauty, Lifestyle, simplicity, style, Uncategorized

I’m pretty sure it’s obvious what I’m talking about today…The Anastasia Subculture Palette. I have been wanting this palette since it pretty much came out. I remember seeing it and thinking that it was basically made for me. I live for dark browns, purples, rusts, and yellows. How could I resist?

IMG_3912.JPG

Since I was planning for Spain I never got around to actually purchasing it. The weekend I returned, I made a beeline for Sephora and purchased this beautiful palette. So, believe it or not, I’m not much of an eyeshadow palette girl. I never got the point of getting SO many colors and only using about four of them. In this palette, I can use pretty much ALL of the colors and that makes me happy.

fullsizeoutput_386

Yes, I am aware of all the controversy surrounding this palette and no, like usual I do not really care. I swatched in Sephora so many times and I loved it every time and I couldn’t stop thinking about it so therefore it was a purchase I had to make! Also, you can use your fingertips to apply your eyeshadow…

fullsizeoutput_385

Anyway, I’m not going into a full review or anything…not yet anyway. I basically just wanted to say that I’m going to be doing some eye looks for the month of November. Most of the looks will be up on Instagram (@chelsiiohkay) but I will also be posting them up on here so that you guys can see them. I’m not sure if I’m doing a 30-day challenge or not….we’ll see. My first look will be up on Halloween because…why not?

fullsizeoutput_384

Look out for those eye looks in the near future. Thanks for reading

A Tourist in Spain Outfit of the Day

Fashion, Lifestyle, Minimalism, simplicity, Slow Fashion, style, Uncategorized

Hola everyone, I know I’ve been gone for almost a week now and I apologize for that. However, I was on vacation in Spain enjoying myself. I was really hoping while I was there I’d get some good outfit pictures, but sadly I only got one decent outfit simply because the weather was ALL over the place.

The outfit I got all of the pictures of is super touristy and I LOVE it. I’m obsessed with the top and obviously my handy dandy boyfriend jeans. At the time I was in Seville and everyone was pretty dressed down including the locals, so why not follow suit?

IMG_8159

I didn’t pack any sandals, but I did pack some basic black flip flops that…somewhat worked with this outfit. You have to make it work when you have limited options though, so I did what I could.

IMG_8173

I was standing in front of a wall to the Plaza de toros de la Real Maestranza de Cabelleria de Sevilla, which made the words on my shirt pop out!

IMG_8182

The crossbody bag that I wore throughout the whole trip is this nice gray B. Makowski bag that is literally bottomless. I can fit a small bottle of water, an umbrella, my passport and all of the regular makeup stuff I normally carry. I’m overlooking the Guadalquivir River in Sevilla.

IMG_8176

That is all for my post today. I’m so happy to be back and blogging. Next vacation I will probably blog because it doesn’t feel like work to me so why not? I hope you all enjoyed this outfit of the day post. Thanks for reading.

What’s in My Carry On Bag?

Fashion, Lifestyle, simplicity, Slow Fashion, style, Travel

Hey you guys. I’m going to be continuing with talking about my travels and all. So today I’m going to be showing you what’s in my carry on bag. Then on Friday, I’ll most likely have an outfit post like normal, however, that may change. Anyway, let’s get on with this post. I got on Polyvore today to basically simulate what garments I’m taking with me to on my trip. I seriously thought this would be easier than taking my own pictures, but boy was I wrong. Next time I travel, I will be taking my own pictures for sure! Some garments pictured are the actual garments, but some are not.

Screen Shot 2017-10-10 at 12.33.50 PM.png

Altogether, I am bringing 20 items with me, not including undies, bralettes, and bras. Let’s break that down:

6 tops (two tees, two muscle tees, one tank, one l/s shirt)

4 bottoms (leggings, boyfriend jeans, skinny jeans, shorts)

4 dresses (two tee dresses, two going out dresses)

3 pairs of shoes (boots, heels, sneakers)

3 jackets (leather jacket, cardigan, cropped denim jacket)

Currently, the weather in Spain is pretty hot during the day and then very cool at night. Specifically, in Seville, it’s been reaching about 90 degrees…so I’m going to need some wiggle room as far as my outfits go. However, I still don’t think I over packed at all. If I under packed, I can still shop while I’m there. I’m pretty content with what I’m taking, especially the black tee – let me explain.

Screen Shot 2017-10-10 at 6.21.07 PM

A black tee can go from day into night in my opinion. So those nights I’m not going out I can purchase a skirt and a nice scarf and pair it with my tee. I could even knot the tee in the front or the back to make it slightly cropped. I feel like my options are pretty endless with a simple black tee if styled correctly.

Screen Shot 2017-10-10 at 6.21.21 PM

So a little bit about my favorite items that I’m bringing, now. My boyfriend jeans are a fave because they’re so easy to style! I can wear them with all the shoes I’m bringing and they can go into the night with any of my tees or muscle tees! The blue dress I love because its so simple and I can pair it with my Vans. This can also go into the night with a leather jacket and my heels or boots. I’ve been obsessed with the Au Revoir tee since I first saw it online at Madewell. I said I was going to purchase it and I finally did last week. It’s very thick but soft and breathable. This will probably be my “touristy” outfit! My Vans are a favorite because they’re Vans and I will probably be in them the most.

Screen Shot 2017-10-10 at 6.21.41 PM
I couldn’t forget about the outfit I’ll be flying in! I’ll be in gray joggers and a simple white tee and my Vans. Then I’m going to wear my cardigan so that I do not get cold on the plane. I want to be as comfortable as possible and this is probably the most comfortable outfit I own. I’m here for it! I may switch to my rose pink joggers (just as comfy) so that I can arrive in style at the very least.

That is all for this post I hope that you guys enjoy it! Thanks for reading

What’s in my Cosmetic Travel Bag(s)?

Beauty, Lifestyle, simplicity, skincare, Travel

I think packing is probably my least favorite thing to do. I don’t mind packing for short weekend trips, but weeklong overseas trips are kind of stressful. I’m pretty sure I watched every “pack with me” video on YouTube and yet I’m still stressed. Part of the reason I feel like I’m stressing is that I’m taking a duffel bag with me versus one of those cute little carry-on suitcases. Seriously, that would have helped tremendously! However, the duffel will have to work this time around.

One of the main things I didn’t really need to worry when it came to packing was my makeup, skincare, and other miscellaneous toiletries. On Saturday, I went to the closest Base Exchange with my dad and purchased all of the little travel minis (ibuprofen, body lotion, bobby pins, etc) that I needed. It’s kind of ridiculous how much cheaper things are on a military base compared to Target. Anywho, I picked up these 4 piece cosmetic cases to put all of my skincare and other non-liquid toiletries in.

cosmetic bag

Everything here is pretty self-explanatory. I included my setting sprays, primer, powder, and serum foundation because they fit perfectly in the bag I’m using. I mean that setting powder is pretty bulky and the bag is perfect because it stands upright, therefore I won’t have a bunch of powder all over the place.

skincare bag

Surprisingly this bag can fit all of these skincare items without being too bulky. I may have to put the toner in a clear bag for all the TSA stuff. I included my toothpaste (my toothbrush will go in here too) because I typically brush my teeth and then wash my face so why not put them together? I have body lotion hidden all over my luggage because ya girl gets ashy and I have no idea if the climate is going to be dry or not.

makeup bag

I’m really proud of what makeup I’m taking. I’m proud because this is basically my everyday makeup normally minus the eyelashes and substituting the Becca Foundation for my IT Cosmetics Serum Foundation (which I’m also taking.) I love that my everyday makeup is also my travel makeup. I’m sure if my skin were even clearer, I would have even less makeup!

So these are my cosmetic bag(s) travel essentials give or take a few things pictured. I’m starting to get really excited for my trip and I can’t wait to take pictures and blog about everything! Thanks for reading.

Bomber Jacket Outfit of the Day

Fashion, Lifestyle, simplicity, Slow Fashion, style, Uncategorized

Hey, you guys welcome back to Fashion Fridays. So I’m going to keep this post pretty quick because I let time get away from me today and I still have quite a bit to do before my trip to Spain and I want to be done with all of the errand running by the end of this weekend.

So let’s jump right into this outfit of the day post! Once again, I was in Georgetown and wanted to take pictures of my super casual outfit. Honestly, I think the majority of my outfits are pretty casual, but that’s kind of how I like it.I wore my third favorite pair of jeans from American Eagle and paired it with a cropped tank top because it got really hot that afternoon. Although, I was still pretty hot because I was in black and dark wash jeans so that didn’t help all too much.

IMG_7802

However, the main attraction of this outfit is the bomber jacket that I purchased from Boohoo. I’m the worst because I am definitely not supposed to be buying fast fashion, but this was one of those times I had to suck it up. I had to suck it up because it’s kind of perfect for days that start off really cool and end up super hot and then end up cool by nightfall.

IMG_7806

The material of the jacket is pretty thin, but it’s also pretty decent quality considering I only paid $10 for it. Something I want to bring up in a post sometime soon is mixing fast fashion with slow fashion because it is pretty doable if you know what you’re trying to achieve. I also have to admit that Boohoo tends to have some pretty decent quality items for very cheap.

IMG_7801

Anyway, I finished off the outfit with my favorite black and white vans and went on about my day. Also, the sunglasses that I feel like have been in all of my outfits are Quay’s! Alright, I have to go now! Thanks for reading!

5 Skincare Practices I Stopped Doing

Beauty, Lifestyle, simplicity, skincare, Uncategorized

Hi everybody, today I’m going to be talking about skincare today. I feel like its been kind of a while since I’ve talked about this topic. There are some skincare practices that I stopped doing earlier this year that has improved my skin SO much… I’m sure most of you know that I have lessened my dairy intake to reduce my cystic acne, but here are five more things I’ve stopped doing and what I do instead.

  1. Stopped washing my face in the mornings

I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned this before, but my face typically isn’t dirty in the mornings. A few days after I began doing this, my skin improved greatly. Now what I do is rinse my face with lukewarm water and then tone to remove any dirt that may be present. If I do feel that my face isn’t all that clean, I will use a gentle cleanser like Mario Badescu Enzyme Cleanser or Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser.

IMG_3887

  1. Stopped Using Drugstore Brands

I actually stopped doing this a long time ago. Drugstore brands pretty much did nothing for my skin, in fact, I think they used to make my skin worse. No matter how many oil-free cleansers I would try my skin would always be oily and that was part of the problem. The right oils fight oil, you guys! Now I’m sure there are drugstore brands that work pretty well now and are packed full of moisture, but I’ve found my products now and don’t see myself returning back to drugstore products anytime soon.

fullsizeoutput_212

  1. Stopped using makeup wipes

Yes, I know this is a weird one. The main reason I stopped using makeup wipes is that they always left a sticky residue on my face and I felt like when I would use them my skin just wasn’t happy. Another reason I stopped using was that wiping, pulling and tugging my face to get makeup off probably wasn’t the best technique for my sensitive skin. So now I either use micellar water with a really soft cotton pad (Shiseido cotton pads) or I oil cleanse. Occasionally I’ll use those makeup towels to remove my makeup, but that kind of goes back to using makeup wipes – so I use it sparingly.

  1. Stopped using physical exfoliators

This kind of goes hand in hand with the makeup wipes. The pulling and tugging, as well as the scratching from microbeads, irritated my skin. Also, microbeads aren’t the best for the environment either. This also means I threw out my Clarisonic face brush. I saw no results with a face brush no matter how soft the bristles were. The only physical exfoliator I feel comfortable putting on my skin is charcoal or honey granules (Lush Dark Matter or Leahlani Honey Love) and also I’m extra careful with these when using. I even use chemical exfoliators pretty sparingly just because of how sensitive my skin is. At least for me, the more gentle, the better.

  1. Stopped using salicylic acid

I stopped using the end all be all acne treatment for acne prone skin?! Yes, I certainly did. Every skincare guide I read swears by salicylic acid, but for whatever reason, my skin is just not here for it. Every single time I start using the salicylic acid for a pimple, my skin laughs and produces another even bigger pimple or pimples. Now when I get a pimple, I apply some tea tree oil directly on the pimple and just spot treat. Usually, it’s gone or at the very least, smaller the next day.

fullsizeoutput_20e

So those are the five things I stopped doing or using to improve my acne prone, sensitive skin. I’m not sure if you guys noticed, but everything I stopped doing was irritating my skin meaning all of that had to go! So if you’ve done pretty much everything you could following the normal skincare practices and still haven’t gotten any relief, then try some of these things! Thats it for today you all.
