A Post About A Super Eventful Weekend

So, this past weekend was a very eventful one. First, I went out for my birthday, then the next afternoon I participated and celebrated my good friend’s engagement.

Friday, I went to the nail salon with my friend so that she could paint her nails accordingly for the celebration and shortly after we went shopping for dresses to change into after our dances. A few hours later, we went to practice one last time before the big day.

After our last practice, we went out to D.C. and danced the night away…without getting too crazy of course. Obviously, I had to show my little birthday outfit, which turned out to very appropriate because it was SO hot out.

The next day, my friends and I got into the traditional Indian/Bengali outfits called a salwar kameez. It was an extremely long day, but it was all so worth it and so much fun! I can’t wait for the wedding!

We took professional pictures and video, which I’m so excited to see when it’s all put together! The bride to be’s outfit and makeup was so stunning that I had to snap a couple of pictures!

Once the girls and I did our choreographed dances, we changed into our dresses that were almost impossible to find at the mall. We ate dinner and then the dance floor was open to everyone…so you know what that meant.

IMG_6452.JPGFriday and Saturday were incredibly fun, but also incredibly draining. I pretty much slept all throughout Sunday and “reclaimed my time.” Once I finally got out of the bed around 3 PM, I went through all my birthday gifts. I’m so grateful for each and every one of them and can’t wait to talk about them separately in some later posts.

That was my super eventful weekend and while it was so much fun…I am so glad to be back on a normal routine again so that I can blog and film more consistently. Like every year, it feels nice to be another year older and I hope for many more years! Thanks for reading as always.

Products I Don’t Use Anymore

It’s definitely one of those weeks where I’m not really sure what I want to talk about on this here blog. I’m still recovering from the party/BBQ my family and I had last weekend and I think I still have liquor brain or something. I’ve been getting my life organized as well and developing daily routines to keep everything simple for myself.

As I was writing this I came up with an idea for a blog post today. Who says you can’t get things done under pressure? I randomly thought about products that I don’t use anymore and said to myself “hey that would make a good blog post.” So here I go!

I feel like I’ve done a ton of reviews on here and I can’t honestly say that I still use each and every product that I have reviewed. A good portion of the products that I LOVED at the time didn’t last like I thought they would.

IMG_5379

The first one the list is the Facial Radiance Pads! Ok so I technically didn’t stop using these, I just had to take a break from them. In fact, I took a break from most of the products containing any sort of acid. I felt like acids were causing my face to be inflamed which of course caused acne. I had to make my routine a little more gentle. At some point, I will incorporate acids back in, but I may not have to apply them as often as I was.

herbivore-2

I know! I was obsessed with the Herbivore Lapis Oil. In fact, I’m still obsessed, but my skin isn’t. My super sensitive skin started to react negatively when I used the oil. It would cause redness and it hurt to touch my skin, but only in certain spots like my chin or my cheeks. I tried to incorporate it back into my routine, but the same thing would happen. However, it did not go to waste, because my mom has it at the moment.

I was really excited to use this trio since I adore Josie Maran’s argan oil. What had happened was, the cleansing oil broke me out SO bad. Oddly enough, argan oil is a non- comedogenic oil so there must have been something else that irritated my skin. The sunscreen and the oil didn’t break me out though.

As much as I liked the Leahlani Skincare line, I just couldn’t see myself repurchasing the Honey Love or Champagne Serum again. The products specifically seemed to be more for dry skin, not sensitive combo skin. The Mermaid Sea mask will always be on my repurchasing list though!

I’m not completely sure if ever reviewed this Indie Lee Brightening Cleanser  but I’m sure I’ve mentioned it. This did a great job at brightening my skin, but it never really kept the acne to a minimal. Having glowy acne is a different approach. I may repurchase once I for real get the pimples under absolute control.

So, I guess this was a “where are they now?” type of post today. Also, these all ended up being skin care products…I guess those are the only items I actually buy. Hopefully Thursday I will have some actual material even though this wasn’t too bad! Thanks for reading.

Products I Don’t Use Anymore

TULA Skincare Review

Ok so I honestly didn’t think this review was coming so soon, but the results came so much sooner than expected.

Two weeks ago, I ordered from Tula.com – the probiotic skin care brand and it arrived sometime last week. Of course, I started using it as soon as it arrived and I instantly saw a difference.

The week I began using the product I had a few little pimples and some hormonal acne on my chin that cleared up the next morning. The two products that I ordered were the Illuminating Face Serum and the Hydrating Day & Night Cream. I got the travel sized version simply because I believe trying things out before purchasing the big daddy versions.

IMG_3777

So after I’m done washing and toning my face morning and night, I apply the serum and then the moisturizer. The illuminating serum is a little bit misleading because it comes out as a cream, but then kind of melts into a serum like consistency. It’s very lightweight and instantly brightens your skin tone. I’m not a fan of the smell because it has a slight chemical like odor.

Here’s a little blurb about the illuminating serum:

“This lightweight serum expertly targets dark spots, hyper pigmentation, and dull skin, revealing a youthful glow and brightened complexion.”

The Hydrating Day & Night Cream is just what I was looking for in a moisturizer. It’s lightweight, yet buildable and smells pretty good. I absolutely love using this at night because I can always apply more in case my skin gets dry while I sleep. Now here’s a little blurb about the Hydrating Day & Night Cream:

“Delivering deep hydration to soothe dull skin, this luxurious, nourishing cream reveals an even, glowing, age-defying complexion.”

Obviously, each product is infused with a probiotic ingredient that has the ability to restore your skin’s natural balance, which helps skin to look healthy and clear. The probiotic strain that seems to be used in the majority of their line is Bifida Ferment Lysate.

If it hasn’t been clear by now, I really like these products so far. I especially like the serum and moisturizer together because I feel that it’s the perfect base before makeup even without a primer.

Only wearing eye makeup

The prices of the full sized products are like most skin care lines…not exactly expensive, but not cheap either. The Illuminating Serum retails at $78 and the Hydrating Day & Night Cream retails at $52. Okay, so maybe that’s not that affordable, but luckily they have the travel-sized versions that you can always purchase if need be. The travel sized serum and cream are sold together and it’s only $38!

So, I will continue to use these and keep you guys updated of any problems, breakthroughs or even concerns. I would like to get my hands on the mask and face mist at some point. Thanks for reading!

JerryBox Cosmetic Organizer

You guys should know by now that I’m trying my actual hardest to get organized. The best place to start for me is usually my vanity and I go from there. I thought I had it all figured out at one point and threw the majority of my makeup into this really pretty wired bowl. That system worked out for awhile until I had to dig around just to find stuff and somehow makeup would get EVERYWHERE!

So for about a month and a half, I had a purchase in mind but kept putting the purchase on hold until this Monday. This Monday was Prime Day on Amazon and the prices were all just really amazing deals. Soo…I figured why not get my hands on the JerryBox Makeup Storage. The Jerrybox is a makeup and makeup accessory organizer that saves a ton of space on your vanity.

The actual setting up process is really self-explanatory, you just kind of fit all the pieces together. There are also directions on the back of the box, which do help out if you need it.

There are different styles of the Jerrybox which include: Tower, Circle, and Square in white, black and transparent. I went with the circle style in white, but if I were to purchase this again I would most definitely get the Tower in transparent just because it looks like it may be easier to clean.

I haven’t figured out how I want everything to sit on here, but I’m sure it’ll all come to me very soon. Overall, the JerryBox is a really cool, innovative, and a pretty ingenious idea that easily clears up space on your vanity. It has a plastic feeling, but it is still quite sturdier than I expected.

So that’s all for today my lovelies! I hope this was a cool post for you guys! If you’re interested in the JerryBox, it’s on Amazon for a pretty decent price. Thanks for reading!!

A Post about a Pool Party

Happy Monday everyone! So far my summer has been going so well and it’s only the beginning. I’ve already been to the beach and I’m fully enjoying the rooftops that D.C. has to offer.

Yesterday I went to this really fun pool party that was also on a rooftop….that’s like the best of both worlds for me! It was extremely hot and pretty crowded, but it was a pre 4th of July party. I wish I would have gotten more pictures of the party but I was having way too much fun.

Of course, I brought along my little red bag that my mom gave to me from her PopSugar Box (see: A post about the Beach) and my handy dandy Instax camera. I think I’ll be documenting the majority of my summer with this baby.

IMG_6041

So the rooftop pool party was at the Liaison Capitol Hill Hotel in D.C. The event is called SiP and Dip and they have this event almost every Sunday in the summertime. I could most definitely go again to get better pictures.

The cost to get in was $20 for general admission and $200 for a table. I went with general admission since I was probably going to be in the pool the majority of the time anyway. The rail drinks were a bit expensive, but if you’re a beer drinker then it’s your lucky day.

The day was just so much fun and I think it’s really important to unwind in your life. Being by the pool and relaxing and being around friends was just so nice for a Sunday afternoon. I wanted to talk about more local things in my area especially since I’m just diving in this summer! Thanks for reading as always.

The “Hangover” Routine

So last night I went out, as I do most summer nights on the weekend. I went to my favorite rooftop and basically kicked off my Summer by drinking (alcoholic)  peach slushies on a nice warm summer night.

IMG_6096.JPG

Naturally, I woke up in the morning feeling kind of blah and dehydrated. I won’t go as far as to say I was hungover, but I was feeling some after effects for sure. So of course, I have a whole routine to bring me back to life…especially my skin.

First off I start by going ham with the water. I’ve probably had about four or five glasses of water today and I’m still so thirsty. I like to drink alkaline water because it supposedly rids the body of toxins…but I also like my good ‘ol filtered water too.

IMG_6103

For whatever reason, my nail polish always gets chipped on one or two of my nails whenever I go out. Last night, they got pretty messed up somehow, so the blue will be coming off right after this blog post. Any good nail polish color recommendations?

IMG_6101

As I’m typing this, I have a hydrating mask on my face. I have the Farmacy Honey Potion on to be exact. This mask never fails to make my skin feel so smooth and look glowy, which is great after a night out drinking.

Normally, I would include a lip mask as well, but I currently don’t have one on me. I like to get the sheet lip masks from Sephora for $3. They actually do work especially after a good lip scrub!

Last, but not least, I rest! I use this time to catch up on my shows and get some much-needed sleep. It’s great to go out and enjoy yourself, but it’s even better to take care of yourself after a long night. I’m a huge fan of pampering myself even if I have no reason to! I plan to write more about self-pampering in the near future because it’s so important!

That’s it for tonight, you guys. As always, thanks for reading!

The “Hangover” Routine

A Post About the Beach

Yesterday, I made my way to the beach, which is why I did not post. I’m here today though! I wanted to share some pictures with you guys and talk about my grand ‘ol time at Ocean City.

Now, Ocean City isn’t my first beach of choice, but that didn’t stop it from still being a beach! I LOVE the water and being near it, so I was extremely happy!

IMG_6045

These were me and my friend’s beach “essentials” – the quotations because the Instax cameras were completely unnecessary, but made the experience that much better.

IMG_6041

My mom got this really cool bag in her PopSugar Box and decided to lend it to me for the day. The bag is by Stephanie Johnson and apparently, she makes other really cool bags as well. The bag was perfect for the beach because it doesn’t get sandy or wet! Also, it’s super cute!

IMG_6073

Obviously, I had to take pictures with the Instax camera, hence why I brought it along with me. I was a little nervous about the pictures developing because of how bright it was outside, but most of the pictures turned out so well!

FullSizeRender

And of course, I had to speak about my swimsuit that I got from CupShe. I ordered it last month for my Miami trip. It is a super cute swimsuit, but it does not fit in my slow fashion parameters whatsoever. The bottoms are slightly too big, however, I didn’t get in the water because it was FREEZING!

Overall, the trip was really fun and wasn’t too bad of a drive at all. I hope to go at least one more time this Summer. I’ll be sure to take even more pictures if I do go and post them on another blog post as well as my Instagram!
