Reclaiming My Time

Hey, you all, so I know I didn’t post on Wednesday, but honestly, I had nothing at all to post. Also, my mind was on Thursday, which was my 24th birthday! Yesterday I spent the day with my friend and they took me to go get my nails and feet done.

The reason why we decided to go get mani’s and pedi’s is because another one of our friends recently got engaged and her engagement party is this weekend too! So actually, my mind has been on this whole weekend because A LOT is going on! However, I did want to post today to let you know I’m still here and am not neglecting this blog whatsoever!

This week started out kind of wonky because I was just not feeling it. That could have been a combination of hormones or just people kind of getting on my nerves. As most of you know I am striving to live more simply so I really do try to not let little things get to me.

One phrase that has stood out to me lately is a phrase spoken by Maxine Waters: “Reclaiming my time.” I know the meaning of that means something entirely different than how I have been applying it to my life, but the phrase just speaks levels to me. Needless to say, the mani and pedi was very much needed and I’m glad that my actual birthday was low key and didn’t involve too many people.

Now with all that said, I want to share one of my birthday gifts with you all. It was something I did actually want, but I did not expect to get it at all. This year I wasn’t too focused on gifts…maybe that’s a sign of growth or something? I probably won’t feel the same when Christmas comes around though.

For the past few months, I have been using my mom’s FujiFilm Instax camera and I think her getting this for me was a way of telling me to give hers back. Fine by me. I love having things of my own and not having to borrow from others…including my mom. Of course, I would have preferred to purchase it myself, but I’m still oh so grateful for the camera. Also, I LOVE the color!

Yesterday was a good day and today will be a good day as well. I will try to have pictures from the engagement party as well as my birthday celebration. Thanks for reading.

5 Things That Happen When You Live Simply

  1. You start to declutter regularly

Ok so this is a no brainer, but this isn’t just a materialistic thing…it’s also a mindset as well.

fullsizeoutput_1f9

  1. You develop routines

You’re just kind of naturally going to fall into routines whether it’s a skincare, hair care, cleaning or even a morning routine.

  1. You become happier (in my opinion)

Lesser things tend to bother you and you tend to stress less and less

fullsizeoutput_1fa

  1. The way you organize changes

Most people I’ve seen who live simply (or minimally) tend to have open storage – floating shelves, clothing racks, and basically anything you can see (no lid or door)

  1. You get your mind right

What I mean by this is, your thinking becomes simple and you become less forgetful.

What are some things that happened when you started to live simply?

NO More Summer Capsule Wardrobes

Ok, so I didn’t really do a capsule wardrobe this summer. For some reason, summer comes around and I just can’t figure out how to capsule my clothing. I spoke about this in a post earlier this season and I wanted to fix my summer wardrobe. However, I never got around to it because I just really don’t like the hot weather like that and it just seemed way too tedious.

I did manage to fit some wins in though. I now know that I can pretty much wear denim or woven shorts and a simple top along with a flowy kimono and look pretty fabulous.

And when going out I can throw on a bralette with a mesh top and be good to go! I guess I got caught up on trying not to look too boring that I forgot that kimonos, belts, chokers, and makeup can take an outfit that’s a 5 and turn it into a 10.

So I’ve kind of decided that I probably won’t be doing a capsule in the summer months anymore because 1. It just gives me a headache thinking about it for some odd reason. 2. I tend to gravitate towards anything that’s going to be comfortable, breathable, and stylish…meaning I may end up defeating the purpose of a capsule and purchasing new items.

Luckily I do buy pretty decent quality items in the summer so I will have them for a pretty long time and have no plans of getting rid of anything. SO now that I’ve seemed to figure out my (non) issue about summer, I can finally start thinking about fall. I have already started purchasing fall items because it’s my favorite and most of the fall stuff is on sale right now! I can’t wait to start photographing fall outfits for you guys! Look out for that in the next month or so!

Thanks for reading as always.

Hello, August!

I’m so happy that it’s August again! August just so happens to be my birthday month and if I’m being honest….I get really annoying. That isn’t what this post is about, but I just wanted to mention how much I love August. Be prepared for a bunch of makeup, outfit, and hair post about how I’m going to all done up for the big day.

Anyway, I just kind of wanted to come on here and post about nothing. I am currently in the process of seriously getting my room organized. I’m looking at floating shelves, floor pillows, tulle, and just a ton of other things that will tie my room together.

I’m very excited to be doing this so that I can showcase it on this here blog. I talk about wanting to live a simple life occasionally and it’s time to start really making that happen.

Yesterday I had to purchase this cute little gem and for some reason, it has really inspired me. Yes, it’s a marble dry erase board…who doesn’t love marble? It sparked inspiration because I realized that my many walls can be utilized! Having something hanging such as a small shelf helps me to get rid of the unnecessary or find a different place for it.

So I’m not going to ramble on too much about nothing so it’s time to end this blog post now. Thank you for reading as always.

How do you get organized?

ChelsiKay

Hello, August!

Organizing My Room Pt. 1

Okay as you all know I’m trying my best to organize my room. So far, I got the majority of my surfaces nice and neat. I didn’t have to throw anything away either…I just needed to find a new home for certain things.

Last week I purchased a bar cart from IKEA and it took me a minute to figure out how I was going to merchandise it, but I figured it out. All of my filming equipment (that can fit) goes on the top. Miscellaneous items go on the middle shelf, which thankfully is not that, many things. The last shelf holds all of my hair styling products, which again isn’t that much because I have finally found products that work for my hair. Obviously, this isn’t how most bar carts are used, but sometimes we just have to get creative.

Since I’ve merchandised the bar cart, my end table has cleared up. It could still use a lot of work, but I’ll declutter it eventually. I have to say, even though it isn’t the clearest surface, it is definitely more organized than it was before. I would prefer something else in place of this end table as well.

My vanity is holding up really well since I purchased the JerryBox Cosmetic Organizer. It’s kind of crazy how such a small change can make such a drastic difference when it comes to being more organized. It also helps that I don’t have a ton of makeup, but the JerryBox has really been helping out…now if I can figure out how to get my brushes to stay in there!

I’ll be coming back with a part two to organizing my room pretty soon which will probably include some decorating as well. Even though this was a short post, I hope it was still worth reading.

Organizing My Room Pt. 1

JerryBox Cosmetic Organizer

You guys should know by now that I’m trying my actual hardest to get organized. The best place to start for me is usually my vanity and I go from there. I thought I had it all figured out at one point and threw the majority of my makeup into this really pretty wired bowl. That system worked out for awhile until I had to dig around just to find stuff and somehow makeup would get EVERYWHERE!

So for about a month and a half, I had a purchase in mind but kept putting the purchase on hold until this Monday. This Monday was Prime Day on Amazon and the prices were all just really amazing deals. Soo…I figured why not get my hands on the JerryBox Makeup Storage. The Jerrybox is a makeup and makeup accessory organizer that saves a ton of space on your vanity.

The actual setting up process is really self-explanatory, you just kind of fit all the pieces together. There are also directions on the back of the box, which do help out if you need it.

There are different styles of the Jerrybox which include: Tower, Circle, and Square in white, black and transparent. I went with the circle style in white, but if I were to purchase this again I would most definitely get the Tower in transparent just because it looks like it may be easier to clean.

fullsizeoutput_1f1

I haven’t figured out how I want everything to sit on here, but I’m sure it’ll all come to me very soon. Overall, the JerryBox is a really cool, innovative, and a pretty ingenious idea that easily clears up space on your vanity. It has a plastic feeling, but it is still quite sturdier than I expected.

So that’s all for today my lovelies! I hope this was a cool post for you guys! If you’re interested in the JerryBox, it’s on Amazon for a pretty decent price. Thanks for reading!!

My Bralette Collection

It’s not a secret to you all that I LOVE bralettes! I’m slowly trying to phase out all of my underwire bras for bralettes because they’re so much more comfortable and I also have little breast that more often than not, don’t need a real bra…or a bra at all.

However, bralettes are so fun and so pretty and I just would rather not go without!

So I wanted to share my little collection that I have because….why not?! I’m definitely a creature of habit when it comes to the kinds of bralettes I like. I prefer the triangle shaped ones over any other style just because they look best under most shirts in my opinion

fullsizeoutput_1ec

These two are my favorite right now, mostly because they’re black and black goes with pretty much everything! Also, I feel like a lighter color would show more dirt on it and that seems kind of icky. The top one is from Amazon and is really one of those bralettes that are meant to be seen. The bottom one is from American Eagle or Aerie and is extremely soft and almost feels non-existent when worn. Also, Aerie offers bralettes for the more bigger busted girls…so if you’re in that category then go check them out.

fullsizeoutput_1ee

These two babies are from Urban Outfitters. I don’t know whose slaying the game better – American Eagle or Urban Outfitters. I will say UO has more sleek, non-lacey bralettes than AE does, but that’s really all about preference. The rose pink one feels like my skin in a way…needless to say, I can wait to wear that one out! The scalloped bralette is just the perfect kind of detail AND it’s seamless. Maybe UO is winning this bralette game…for now anyway.

fullsizeoutput_1eb.jpeg

So this is my bralette collection that I just had to share with you all! I’m probably going to be expanding it, so I may just have to do an update in the future. I think I’ll also try out some different styles other than the triangle shape. Maybe my next one will be halter or a racerback…we’ll just have to see. Thanks for reading as always.
