Going Braless Pt. 2

I didn’t post yesterday, but there’s a really good reason for that…I didn’t know what to post about. Then I thought about how well my whole “braless journey” is going especially now that it’s hot again.

Last summer I gave up the boob panties aka the bra. That’s not to say I don’t wear bras anymore, but I more often than not opt out. If you want to read my Pt. 1 about going braless last year then click here.

Even in the winter, I didn’t really choose a bra because of the bulky layers I would be wearing. It wasn’t until Spring started that I would reach for a boob holder. I’ve traded in a good portion of my bras for pasties, bralettes, and the occasional bandeau. Now that Summer is right around the corner….so long bras!

I’m a huge fan of bralettes! For one, they are extremely cute and they are surprisingly comfortable. American Eagle, Urban Outfitters, and Free People have some of the nicest bralettes, even for the big busted ladies out there.

I also really love pasties. I was so afraid to wear them at first, but now I’m pretty much hooked on them. I prefer the silicone ones over the stick on ones, but the silicone pasties do tend to gather sweat more so than the stick-on pasties. You can find many many types of pasties on Amazon. If you do plan on getting some silicone pasties, then make sure to read the reviews to see if you’re getting the good kind that lasts longer.

One thing I did notice about going braless was that my “girls” actually got perkier! Either I’m just getting older or the lack of restriction is letting them breathe and promoting growth (lol.) Anyway, my “braless journey” is still going very well and I recommend considering doing so. The freedom is amazing! Thanks for reading!

Boyfriend Jeans Outfit of the Day

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a fashion post so why not now? I think the rest of the week and next Monday I will be posting just fashion…unless of course that changes. Okay now onto the outfit!

So, it’s a really mild day today, in fact, it’s pretty chilly out. I decided to where my new Lucky Brand boyfriend jeans that I am so in love with and a long sleeve black shirt. I also grabbed my new North Face rain coat and slid into my gray Zara sneakers. Obviously, I didn’t do it up with my outfit, but I LOVE this look because it’s still so chic yet comfortable.

IMG_5892

I didn’t realize how much I needed boyfriend jeans until I actually had them. I love how they can go with just about anything, including heels or a nice crop top.

IMG_5888

I also didn’t realize how essential a raincoat was until I didn’t have one for the last two years. Fun fact about me, I lose umbrellas like nobody’s business. I just purchased an umbrella about three weeks ago and I’m pretty sure it’s lost into oblivion.

I’ve worn this look so many times already and I just can’t get enough of it. I really am excited to change it up as it gets a little bit warmer. I’ll be sure to keep you guys in the loop when I do.

Implementing My Routine

Ok, so I am aware that I did not post on Friday. It was a very busy weekend that did not end too well, but I’m not going to let that stop me from getting up my posts this week! I planned on posting about how my routine for my room was going, but I’ll just do that today instead.

I wrote out a daily, weekly and monthly routine to keep my room nice and tidy. So far my daily routine is working out pretty well, but I’ve kind of slacked on my weekly routine except for my laundry. Hopefully this week I can actually do all of my clean room tasks.

My daily routine is just making up my bed and getting the glasses out of my room and into the dishwasher. I have a tendency to hoard glasses for some reason and it makes my room look so not neat. I also have a tendency to not put my shoes back on their shoe rack and leave my jackets on the foot of my bed.

IMG_5739

My weekly routine consists of vacuuming and doing my laundry from washing all the way to folding. I despise folding my clothes just like everyone else…I’m trying to find a way where it’s cathartic rather than tedious. I also included tidying up any cluttered surfaces and watering my plants. I have a devil’s ivy plant and a bamboo plant that occasionally gets neglected.

By the time I reach my monthly routine, I shouldn’t have too much to do except vacuuming under my bed and other hard to reach areas. The rest of the tasks are things I may have to do if things aren’t really decluttered. If I pick up my room throughout the day and week then I won’t have to do too much on a monthly basis. I hope that all made sense.

IMG_5741

I also want to dedicate some time to certain spots in my room that need to be cleaned or even decorated. I may even make blog posts about that because I really just want to simplify as well as organize my whole entire room. I really think that having a cleaning/organizing routine will help to achieve this goal in the long run. Let’s hope so anyway!

Implementing My Routine

Time for a Routine

So I’m not the cleanest person…wait scratch that! I’m not the most organized person in the world. Hell, I’m not really organized at all actually. I looked to minimalism to help me get more organized but still seemed to have random clutter in random places in my bedroom. My surfaces never stay decluttered for long and I always ask myself why this is? It’s always things like nail clippers, tweezers, Tylenol, store cards, pens and the such – things that I do actually use.

FullSizeRender-1 2

The other day I noticed that one of my friends was regimented in EVERYTHING that she did as far as picking up her room. I have to admit I was a little jealous. I thought about it for a while and realized that I don’t really have a routine to keep my room organized. I’ll be honest I don’t make my bed up, I don’t vacuum every week and I don’t have a specific place for everything. That’s not to say that everything is just strewn all over my bedroom for no rhyme or reason, but sometimes I just forget to or am too lazy to put things back where they belong.

So, this means that I need to develop some sort of a routine to keep my room more organized. I mean I have a skincare routine that I stick to religiously as well as a hair care and laundry routine, so why wouldn’t I have a set cleaning/organizing routine? I’m on a mission now. I plan on making a checklist and sticking to it until my routine becomes a habit. I’m not looking to make things perfect, but I do want to make things much more organized than they are now.

FullSizeRender-2

I’m so serious about this, that I even started today…baby steps of course. I got up and stretched, like actual stretches. Then, I made my bed and I NEVER make my bed. Yes, I’m one of those people who thinks “I’m getting right back into later…why bother?” Making my bed made my room look instantly tidier, but I definitely need more pillows.

FullSizeRender-3

So with all that being said, this week I’m going to spend some time making a routine for myself to get this organization ball rolling. I think doing this will also help with my minimalism journey. I hope this works out for me because this was a long time coming but I just didn’t know how to go about it!

Madewell Muscle Tees!

When I truly like something I hold onto it and cherish it for as long as I can. I always try to do the same thing when I’m shopping. I try my best to find items that I truly love and will hold onto for as long as possible. With all the constantly changing trends and enticing fast fashion stores, this can be extremely difficult. This is why I really like shopping at Madewell and why it has become one of my go-to fashion stores.

Even though Madewell does tend to have pretty trendy items, there’s always this one section in the store that I feel that calls out to me. Okay technically it’s not a section but the items I’ve always grabbed are in the same vicinity to each other. It’s where they sell all of their basics – t-shirts, muscle tees, tanks, and even cropped tops.

IMG_3614

I think you all know I’ve got heart eye emojis for Madewell’s Whisper Cotton muscle tees. I’m pretty much obsessed with my light olive green one that I wear non-stop. So, I took it upon myself to buy two more…they were 2 for $30 so why not?

I purchased a white and a gray muscle tee. I love muscle tees, to begin with, but for some reason, I really love this style. I’m pretty sure I like it so much because it makes “the girls” look great (lol.)

Another reason is that these tees can go with pretty much anything and can also be layered. I foresee many outfit possibilities with these babies. I’d say this was a great purchase because I know that I’ll wear them without a second thought.

IMG_3618

Before I go, I’d like to reiterate for those who don’t know that I am still on my slow fashion journey and would like to have a slow wardrobe along with a capsule wardrobe. Every time I make a purchase I usually replace at least two items that I know I probably won’t wear again or as much.

That’s all for today and this week. Thanks for reading as always my lovely readers. Until next week.

Madewell Muscle Tees!

Finally, Glossier.

Today I decided to be proactive and start blogging a little bit earlier than normal, especially since it’s going to be a busy day for me. Today I’m celebrating my best friend’s birthday. She has a blog too called thelavendersmile. So instead of completely neglecting my schedule and you guys, I thought why not just get a head start and post early?!

Most Friday’s, I don’t have too much to talk about unless of course, I’ve planned something in advance. Today isn’t really a planned post but I do want to talk about my purchase from Glossier.

I have no idea what took me SO long to buy anything from them, but the day has finally come. This, of course, isn’t a review, because I JUST got the products yesterday and I’ve only used one of them.

Glossier is a brand that stands for pretty much everything I am about! It minimal, clean, no nonsense, still fun, quirky, and of course aesthetically pleasing! I have used their skin tint and it is a little too lightweight for my hyperpigmented skin, but one of these days I will ONLY be able to do lightweight.

Anyway, onto the purchases. I will do a review on these products very soon…I have a long list of products to review already!

IMG_3560.jpg

So I had to get the Glossier Boy Brow in black because 1. It’s a bestseller and 2. It makes everyone’s eyebrows look natural and filled in instantly! I think everyone should have a little bit of boy brow in their makeup kit and I haven’t even used it yet! I’ve seen countless videos on YouTube of people using this brow gel and it’s a hit. The tube should be a whole lot bigger for the price. I’m not usually one to complain too much about price, but the Boy Brow is pretty small. At $16 they could definitely make the tube a bit wider. It does seem to be the only product that is that small as well as the only product you’ll need to buy over and over again. There’s gotta be a method to their madness.

IMG_3557

I was not supposed to be buying skincare this month, but I really couldn’t resist. So I kind of tweaked my no buying skincare month into purchasing from Sephora. I am in Sephora at least 3 to 4 times a month and I ALWAYS buy something skincare related. Anyway, I had to get my hands onto the Glossier Super Pure Niacinamide + Zinc serum. Apparently, niacinamide and zinc are supposed to help with inflammation that accompanies acne. Well, guess who has acne prone skin and lots of skin inflammation? This girl. So it was almost written in the stars that I had to buy this serum. I already like it because it goes on your skin like water!

So, I think that I’ll really like both of these products and I’ll probably purchase some other ones later on. I couldn’t make this post too long, but I did want to get it up for you all nice and early!

Comment if you’ve tried Glossier and tell me what your favorite product is!

Adding to my Capsule

I know I know, I didn’t post my Friday post yesterday. I should seriously consider auto posting for when I’m out and about and don’t plan on being near a computer. Anyway, today I wanted to talk about American Eagle Outfitters. It’s not weird that I want to talk about this retailer, I promise.

I didn’t really shop at American Eagle as a teen because their clothes were pretty logo intensive then and I did not like that sort of style and still don’t. It wasn’t until a few years ago I happened upon their site and saw that they kind of changed their style to more everyday basics yet somewhat trendy style. This was around the time that I started doing a capsule wardrobe and shopped there for mainly t-shirts and jeans.

AE jeans are some of the best jeans on the market. This is coming from someone who has trouble finding jeans because of my somewhat abnormally long legs and the random tushy I have. Shopping for jeans is something I never ever want to go do but I know is necessary every few years or so. Sometimes I’m a 0 and sometimes I’m a 4. It always depends on the store and if their sizes don’t vary too much. American Eagle is one of those stores where I am the same size in every rise, fit, and wash. Ultimately, it’s as if American Eagle jeans are made for people with “abnormal” bodies…not for the super curvy, yet not for the waif either.

Anyway, I recently went on their site again and noticed the style has changed a bit once again. They still have their Soft & Sexy line, but also added a new line that I am really here for. The line is called “Don’t Ask Why” and it features slightly sexy, edgy and somewhat trendy clothing. Think, off the shoulder, lace up necklines, bomber jackets and an homage to Yeezy maybe?

Of course, I bought some things and plan on buying a couple of more items from there for the warmer months. I’m forever in a bind when it comes to clothes and Summer and I think American Eagle is my answer!

Is AE slow fashion? Not really, but it isn’t fast fashion either. There happens to be some retailers out there who fall right in the middle. Are their practices ethical? Well, I’m still searching for that but AE has a page about a better world which doesn’t exactly include “100% ETHICAL” or anything of the sort. However, they’re leaning more towards sustainability, which is a step in the right direction.

It helps to have a retailer to shop at that’s not super expensive and also pretty stylish. I can’t say the same for some slow retailers out there. I actually really love the idea of shopping somewhere that’s priced somewhere in the middle ($30-$150.)

IMG_3552

So I said all of that to say that I’ve added American Eagle Outfitters to my slow fashion shopping list, especially for the Summer months. If I buy anything else from AE, I’ll be sure to post about in my next capsule update! Thanks for reading!
