So, I know I did not post on Friday like I normally do, but I really just needed a break from the internet and now I’m back!
It’s finally the week of my birthday and I’m pretty darn excited. I am feeling a little down at the moment, but I’m sure that will pass by tomorrow! I probably just need a nap and some tea, and a good book or something.
A couple of days ago, the outfit I wanted to wear when I go out for my birthday finally arrived! Of course, I’m doing an all black number because, for one, it will be a pretty chill night and also because I feel the most comfortable in black.
I’m most likely going to be wearing a kimono along with the outfit because I am pretty much obsessed with kimonos again…why did I get rid of the ones I had in college again?
So the bottoms I’m going to be wearing are from Misguided (not slow fashion I know) and they’re high waist, satin lined with a chiffon like overlay. Even though they aren’t slow fashion I probably will wear these the rest of the summer and most likely next summer as well.
The top is from Sweet Mayhem…yes, I shopped for this on Instagram. I saw the top and I just had to have it! When it came in the mail, I was pretty shook at how soft the fabric was. I’m pretty sure it will be worn again and again as well.
I’m still figuring out the shoes because I kind of want to wear heels, but I kind of want to wear boots…we’ll see. So that’s all for this blog post today. I’ll come back Wednesday with a non-birthday post, possibly. Thanks for reading.
Ok, so I didn’t really do a capsule wardrobe this summer. For some reason, summer comes around and I just can’t figure out how to capsule my clothing. I spoke about this in a post earlier this season and I wanted to fix my summer wardrobe. However, I never got around to it because I just really don’t like the hot weather like that and it just seemed way too tedious.
I did manage to fit some wins in though. I now know that I can pretty much wear denim or woven shorts and a simple top along with a flowy kimono and look pretty fabulous.
And when going out I can throw on a bralette with a mesh top and be good to go! I guess I got caught up on trying not to look too boring that I forgot that kimonos, belts, chokers, and makeup can take an outfit that’s a 5 and turn it into a 10.
So I’ve kind of decided that I probably won’t be doing a capsule in the summer months anymore because 1. It just gives me a headache thinking about it for some odd reason. 2. I tend to gravitate towards anything that’s going to be comfortable, breathable, and stylish…meaning I may end up defeating the purpose of a capsule and purchasing new items.
Luckily I do buy pretty decent quality items in the summer so I will have them for a pretty long time and have no plans of getting rid of anything. SO now that I’ve seemed to figure out my (non) issue about summer, I can finally start thinking about fall. I have already started purchasing fall items because it’s my favorite and most of the fall stuff is on sale right now! I can’t wait to start photographing fall outfits for you guys! Look out for that in the next month or so!
Thanks for reading as always.
You guys should know by now that I’m trying my actual hardest to get organized. The best place to start for me is usually my vanity and I go from there. I thought I had it all figured out at one point and threw the majority of my makeup into this really pretty wired bowl. That system worked out for awhile until I had to dig around just to find stuff and somehow makeup would get EVERYWHERE!
So for about a month and a half, I had a purchase in mind but kept putting the purchase on hold until this Monday. This Monday was Prime Day on Amazon and the prices were all just really amazing deals. Soo…I figured why not get my hands on the JerryBox Makeup Storage. The Jerrybox is a makeup and makeup accessory organizer that saves a ton of space on your vanity.
The actual setting up process is really self-explanatory, you just kind of fit all the pieces together. There are also directions on the back of the box, which do help out if you need it.
There are different styles of the Jerrybox which include: Tower, Circle, and Square in white, black and transparent. I went with the circle style in white, but if I were to purchase this again I would most definitely get the Tower in transparent just because it looks like it may be easier to clean.
I haven’t figured out how I want everything to sit on here, but I’m sure it’ll all come to me very soon. Overall, the JerryBox is a really cool, innovative, and a pretty ingenious idea that easily clears up space on your vanity. It has a plastic feeling, but it is still quite sturdier than I expected.
So that’s all for today my lovelies! I hope this was a cool post for you guys! If you’re interested in the JerryBox, it’s on Amazon for a pretty decent price. Thanks for reading!!
It’s not a secret to you all that I LOVE bralettes! I’m slowly trying to phase out all of my underwire bras for bralettes because they’re so much more comfortable and I also have little breast that more often than not, don’t need a real bra…or a bra at all.
However, bralettes are so fun and so pretty and I just would rather not go without!
So I wanted to share my little collection that I have because….why not?! I’m definitely a creature of habit when it comes to the kinds of bralettes I like. I prefer the triangle shaped ones over any other style just because they look best under most shirts in my opinion
These two are my favorite right now, mostly because they’re black and black goes with pretty much everything! Also, I feel like a lighter color would show more dirt on it and that seems kind of icky. The top one is from Amazon and is really one of those bralettes that are meant to be seen. The bottom one is from American Eagle or Aerie and is extremely soft and almost feels non-existent when worn. Also, Aerie offers bralettes for the more bigger busted girls…so if you’re in that category then go check them out.
These two babies are from Urban Outfitters. I don’t know whose slaying the game better – American Eagle or Urban Outfitters. I will say UO has more sleek, non-lacey bralettes than AE does, but that’s really all about preference. The rose pink one feels like my skin in a way…needless to say, I can wait to wear that one out! The scalloped bralette is just the perfect kind of detail AND it’s seamless. Maybe UO is winning this bralette game…for now anyway.
So this is my bralette collection that I just had to share with you all! I’m probably going to be expanding it, so I may just have to do an update in the future. I think I’ll also try out some different styles other than the triangle shape. Maybe my next one will be halter or a racerback…we’ll just have to see. Thanks for reading as always.
It seems like I’m always trying to get my hair to do right the majority of the time. Most of the time it sits just fine on top my cute little head until about Day 4. At that point, it gets dry, tangled and dull looking.
I’m aware that all I need to do is add moisture back, which I typically do but for some reason, it just never truly gets moisturized. So, I’m not going to make this all long and drawn out, but last night I did an Ayurveda oil pre-poo and then I conditioned just like normal. When I was drying my hair it was soaking wet and continued to drip water as I was braiding it….this never EVER happens. My hair is usually dry within 15 minutes after washing. This is when I realized that my hair wasn’t retaining moisture like it should be and was literally sucking up any moisture that it possibly could. I will expand on the Ayurveda world in another blog post.
Anyway, this is my hair (spot the tiny feather) today as well as my outfit of the day. These Madewell shorts are everything to me. I was getting real sick of denim shorts riding up in the hot, humid weather.
They’re not too loose but not too tight and they sit perfectly just below my natural waist. I love how lightweight the cotton/viscose fabric is and it’s just great to wear in this hot summer weather.
The coolest part is that the shorts have these ties on the side that give the shorts a little more oomph. The only thing is, I wish these had pockets!! Pockets are always welcome in my wardrobe!
I paired the wonderful shorts with a bodysuit, which I did on a whim because I need to wash my white shirts. I actually like the look of the bodysuit almost better than a regular white tee. I think I may need a white bodysuit…
Well, that’s it for today. I promise I will give an update on the Ayurvedic hair treatments because that is something I NEED to talk about. Catch me on Wednesday for another post about something!
I’m going to be real with you guys. I hate my capsule wardrobe in the summer. Okay maybe not hate, but I get the blues sometimes. It’s hot and it’s like I forget how to dress. I have this strange need to buy all of the summer trends when they surface, but of course, I never do. I feel like my wardrobe compared to others is so boring in these warmer months.
Currently, I’m wearing some olive green shorts and of course my gray Madewell muscle tee. It’s very simple…maybe a little too simple. I’m just spending the afternoon at the coffee shop, so it doesn’t really matter too much what I wear right?
It’s really when I go out with friends (in the summer) that I have issues with my outfit choices. I see these Instagram post with all these beautiful summer outfits – mainly dresses and I just want to buy them right then and there. Thank you social media marketing!
Awhile back in some lost blog post, I said that I have some “wildcard” pieces in my capsule wardrobe. However, I tend to get rid of those pieces because I’ll wear them and then forget about them which defeats the purpose of a capsule wardrobe.
Basically, I’m struggling with being too simple or being too trendy and I’m trying to find something in the middle. One second I think I have it all figured out, but I really don’t…well, at least not in this type of weather or in the nighttime. I do have two outfits that I love wearing out as well as on a normal day, but that’s only two outfits.
So, what I’m trying to say is that over the next few weeks, I’m going to try and figure out how I want to spice up my summer wardrobe whether it be adding accessories, changing up my shoes or even wearing my hair in different styles. I’m open to any suggestions, so feel free to leave a comment about how you dress for the summer! Thanks for reading.
Yesterday, I made my way to the beach, which is why I did not post. I’m here today though! I wanted to share some pictures with you guys and talk about my grand ‘ol time at Ocean City.
Now, Ocean City isn’t my first beach of choice, but that didn’t stop it from still being a beach! I LOVE the water and being near it, so I was extremely happy!
These were me and my friend’s beach “essentials” – the quotations because the Instax cameras were completely unnecessary, but made the experience that much better.
My mom got this really cool bag in her PopSugar Box and decided to lend it to me for the day. The bag is by Stephanie Johnson and apparently, she makes other really cool bags as well. The bag was perfect for the beach because it doesn’t get sandy or wet! Also, it’s super cute!
Obviously, I had to take pictures with the Instax camera, hence why I brought it along with me. I was a little nervous about the pictures developing because of how bright it was outside, but most of the pictures turned out so well!
And of course, I had to speak about my swimsuit that I got from CupShe. I ordered it last month for my Miami trip. It is a super cute swimsuit, but it does not fit in my slow fashion parameters whatsoever. The bottoms are slightly too big, however, I didn’t get in the water because it was FREEZING!
Overall, the trip was really fun and wasn’t too bad of a drive at all. I hope to go at least one more time this Summer. I’ll be sure to take even more pictures if I do go and post them on another blog post as well as my Instagram!
