How to Create an Oasis in Your Space
One of the first things I did when this quarantine started, I went out and purchased some decor for my room. The look I was going for was “minimal bohemian” and I must say…it was successful. I think during this time it is SO important to be in a comfortable space that you can chill in. Let’s be real, being stuck in the house when you have to be isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. So why not create a space in your home where you can relax, unwind and just do nothing for a few hours every day during this strange time.
Now I just want to disclose that this area isn’t at all close to being finished yet. It will probably always be an ongoing process until I move out to be completely honest. Now, if you want to create an oasis too, then first you want to find some inspiration. Pinterest is the best place to find what you’re looking for but you knew that already. 👀
I had a pretty difficult time finding inspiration because I was looking for something pretty specific. I knew I wanted something bohemian, but I also wanted clean and minimal. If you are having trouble with inspiration then just go with what’s in your head and also run it by someone. Also, you may have to merge two different styles together. My mom was drawn to a Scandinavian look for her space but she also wanted splashes of color. Think Scandi + Palm Springs having a baby and that’s her space. Of course, she is helping me with my space and we decided to keep the Scandi vibes but with splashes of Boho.
Now the fun part is to shop around or shop online to find the furniture or pieces you’re looking for. I recommend Target because you can find pretty much any design style and items tend to be more affordable. I also recommend Wayfair for discounted furniture as well. If you’re looking for rugs on the cheaper side, that’s definitely the site to shop on. Ikea is also another place to find affordable items and if you decide to deliver, then definitely purchase more due to the delivery fee (prices may vary.)
The best part is putting everything together and making it YOUR space. There is nothing like watching something you created come together. It’s so rewarding and such a great investment – especially if being stuck in the house is really getting to you.
Also, don’t be afraid to add colors. I’m probably going to add nude or caramel colors – maybe even coffee. Since I have so many plants that are shades of green, I don’t feel the need to add any bright splashes of color. I hope this gave any of you out there some inspiration to redecorate or style your room the way you truly want. As I’ve been saying, there’s really no telling when we’re getting out of this so make the most of it and your space!
