A Minimal Vanity Tour to Spark Some Inspiration
For years, I have been trying to figure out my vanity situation and how I want to organize all of my makeup and makeup tools. In theory, this shouldn’t even be hard because of how many ways you can organize a vanity, but in practice…it’s just not feasible. I could list all the reasons why my makeup never stays organized but that would be pretty boring. Instead, I’ll tell you how I’m currently keeping my makeup organized because that’s a lot more fun and maybe, just maybe this will spark some inspiration.

First and foremost, I don’t have a ton of makeup so this already makes it pretty easy to reorganize if I have to. I’ll typically go through all of my palettes, foundations, and lippies and get rid of anything old or empty every other season. Then I’ll clean out my drawer with a baby wipe and line it with construction paper. Since it’s springtime I went with yellow. I gave up on trying to use contact paper because makeup ALWAYS gets everywhere and it’s just a mess when trying to wipe it away – so construction paper it is. Wrapping paper also gets the job done as well.
Pictured above, you can see that I use acrylic drawer inserts to organize my double-ended brushes along with my mascaras, eyeliners and other miscellaneous products. I keep other makeup and nail tools in the drawer as well like a cuticle pusher, eyelash curler, and little scissors. You can find acrylic drawer inserts anywhere. I got mine at The Container Store, but there’s plenty over at Amazon.
So, I try my best to keep the top of my vanity clutter-free. I can’t stand having products strewn across my surfaces. A while ago, I purchased this random little organizer to put awkward bottles and containers in. Pretty much anything that’s supposed to stand upright goes in this bad boy. I found this on Amazon, but it’s sold out right now but you could probably find some similar organizers. I love this thing because anything pretty much goes and it clears space on my vanity’s surface.
Remember when marble was in? Well, I think it’s still kind of in. I like to use it as an accent in my room decor these days. While it isn’t the centerpiece of my room anymore, it’s still such a classic style. I guess that’s why I won’t get rid of my marble brush holder. I got this one from BH Cosmetics and I’m pretty sure they don’t sell it anymore but of course…Amazon has plenty. What don’t they have though?
If I could have a room with a bunch of mirrored furniture I would be quite the happy camper. There is just something so elegant about mirrored home decor which explains why it’s so damn expensive. I got my hands on my mom’s mirrored jewelry box not too long ago and I can’t get enough of it. You know I’m gonna say you can find one on Amazon since everything seems to be there. I use mine as a lipstick, lipgloss, and travel perfume holder. Since I’m not one to have a ton of lippies, it really serves its purpose quite well if I do say so myself.
As for the rest of my vanity, I have a mirror, some brushes and of course a low-light plant to fill the rest of the space. At some point, I want to get rid of this whole vanity and get one that looks like old Hollywood but with LED lights instead of hot light bulbs. I guess I’ll put that in my manifestation notebook.
