A Taste of Luxury – Montego Bay, Jamaica
As of last month, I took a four day trip to Montego Bay, Jamaica and had the time of my life. It was my first time staying in a resort and I don’t think I’m ever going back to a regular hotel ever again…at least overseas. I finally got a taste of luxury vacation and it’s pretty hard for me to imagine going back to Montego Bay and not staying at an all-inclusive resort. I already know there’s going to be a next time – I’m already speaking it into existence.
I stayed at the resort: Sandals Royal Caribbean which apparently for a person my age is pretty rare. First and foremost, the staff is very polite, friendly and accommodating, however, that isn’t why I enjoyed myself so much. The fact that the resort is RIGHT on the beach and has about 8+ pools, a swim-up bar, and a private island would have been plenty enough for me.
For those who are unfamiliar with all-inclusive resorts, you pay for just about everything up front. Excursions and spa treatments are pretty much the only things you have to purchase. So, that means you can walk or swim up to any bar in the hotel and just walk away, You can go to any restaurant, get your food and go. Tipping isn’t necessary but never frowned upon. Everything seems free, but remember, you already paid for it ahead of time. The only thing you really have to truly worry about is your airfare and honestly, I love a worry-free vacation.
At Sandals Royal Caribbean, the staff treats you so well, I hate calling them ‘staff.’ I’m not going to say they wait on you hand and foot, but they do their best to give you a great experience with their friendly and inviting culture. Since a lot of the staff was around my age (mid-twenties,) my best friend and I made friends at almost every corner of the resort.
The food at Sandals was pretty decent, but I also didn’t venture out to the more well-known restaurants in the area. The breakfast buffet was probably the best meal I would have every day simply because of all the fresh fruit and the Blue Mountain Coffee they served. I don’t know if this is just at the Royal Caribbean location, but every day at 4pm, they serve high tea with luxury loose leaf tea. Dressing up for high tea almost every day I was there was one of the top three highlights of my trip.
I know the resort life can seem pretty expensive (it is) but it is truly worth it. When you actually break it down, you’re paying for the atmosphere, amenities, privacy, convenience and of course the alcohol. So by the time your trip is done with, you’re most definitely getting your monies worth. Of course, you can always do the regular hotel life and still probably enjoy yourself, but I thought it would be cool to share the experience with you all.
Let me know if you would like to know more about the resort life or tell me your own experience with resorts.

I agree. All-inclusive resorts are lovely. I’m Jamaican and had the luxury of spending my 24th birthday weekend at a MoBay all-inclusive (Holiday Inn) last year and it raised the bar so high for what to expect of a vacation. While that may not become a tradition, I do hope to visit another all-inclusive one day, hopefully sooner than later. I plan to try an adults only resort next time though, not that the children were a bother. Holiday Inn will definitely be my pick in the future when I’ve started a family.

Ahh that’s awesome! Yup my bar is set super high now, it’s hard to imagine not doing it again. Sandals is adults only and there is definitely a difference when you get back to reality haha. Thanks for reading! 🙂
Best Jamaica Tours:
It warms my heart reading that you had a great time here in Jamaica. The Jamaica Tourist Board was on to something in one of their Advertisement that says….. ONCE YOU GO YOU KNOW.
Sands has been at the forefront for a long time providing great hospitality service and although quite pricey they deliver on promise most times.

Thanks so much! I had an amazing time there and can’t wait to go back! I think the price is definitely worth it at the end of the day.
