How to Style Joggers in 2020

Right before the holidays, I put my two weeks in letting my supervisors know I would not be returning after the winter break. This decision was a long time coming and it was finally time to take my leave. Gone are the days of me coming up with horrid business casual outfits that just don’t suit me or my personality. Business casual looks good…on Instagram and other fashion blogs but it’s definitely not…me. Most of this, let’s call it hatred stems from the fact that business casual clothing tends to be pretty uncomfortable and I think we all know how much I adore my comfort in clothing. Also, I’m a sucker for streetwear and/or loungewear.

I’ve been in heaven the last few weeks only wearing t-shirt dresses, jeans, leggings, and best of all – joggers! Seriously, last week I wore every pair of joggers I had and just so happened to document these outfits. I told you guys I was bringing back my fashion posts! I love joggers because they can easily be dressed up with different types of garments.

Black joggers and a yellow bodysuit

Since it’s not terribly cold just yet, I can go out in just a long sleeve shirt and a leather jacket. Above, I’m wearing some basic black joggers from Asos, Urban Outfitters bodysuit, and French Connection leather jacket. Normally I’d finish off an outfit like this with some slip-on sneakers, but I went for my velvet combat boots instead and cuffed my joggers. Pairing joggers with a bodysuit is one of my favorite looks because it’s so tomboy, yet ultra-feminine – one of these days I’ll figure out a name for my contrasting style.

Pink joggers and a black crop top from & other stories

You know what’s better than joggers and a bodysuit? Joggers and a crop top. It’s easy, it’s stylish, and best of all it’s c o m f o r t a b l e. Honestly, I was really just experimenting with my wardrobe on this day. My go-to outfit for fall/winter is usually a pair of jeans and a sweater; sometimes cropped, sometimes full length. I originally threw on some jeans with this & Other Stories cropped sweatshirt, but then quickly switched to these Missguided joggers. I’m still not completely sure where winter is, but this day also called for my French Connection leather jacket. I’m glad I tied this fit up with pink Adidas instead of the classic black and white.

Of course, I can’t leave out the typical all-black outfit of leggings and a turtleneck. What can I say? It’s clutch. Any one of my coats could have been popped over this uniform, but I opted for my longline cardigan simply because everything else would have been too heavy for this unseasonably warm day. I love love love pairing something form-fitting with something loose-fitting. It goes back to that ultra-feminine, tomboy vibes I mentioned before. I really could have gone a few ways with my shoes but for me, it was either boots or sneakers. The Classic Adidas was the winner clearly. Also, can we appreciate how cute the colors of Milk Bar are? It definitely stands out on the corporate-historic streets of Washington, D.C. This location is on P Street NW if you just so happen to be in the area (BTW.)

I didn’t realize this was my first post of 2020 until I was halfway done, but I’m glad I kicked it off with fashion! I hope everyone had an amazing holiday and rang in the new year with family and/or friends. Leave a comment if you need any more info on my outfits or just wanna say hi and I’ll gladly respond.

As always,

ChelsiKay
