Easy Photo Tips for Blogging

I hope everyone had an amazing Christmas and/or a Happy Holiday! It was a great Christmas for me and I’m so glad I got to spend some much needed time with friends and family.  Seriously this month and year have flown by so quickly. I’m not ready at all, which is why this post has nothing at all to do with Christmas. I’m going to be talking about some photo tips and tricks that you can use to make blogging just a little bit easier. Keep reading if you want to know how I’ve been capturing fire photos for my Instagram and some of these blog posts.

Lately, I’ve been going to home stores with lots of furniture or just going to furniture stores in general. Why furniture stores? Currently, my home has been undergoing redecoration as well as renovations so home stores are a must! As far as taking pictures goes, nobody ever cares because the sales associates and customers tend to think you’re snapping photos of your potential new couch or bed. It’s kind of a win-win. So, if you’re a little self-conscious about taking photos in public like I am, go to a furniture or home store! Try Z Gallerie, Anthropologie (if they have a furniture department) and William & Sonoma.

For the past two weeks, my mom and I have been attending events in the DC area because so much is ALWAYS going on in the city. We attended a Christmas Tree Lighting as well as an Ice Maze in City Center. Events like these are the perfect opportunity to take photos because it’s almost expected that people will take pictures. In fact, most events usually have a backdrop so that you can take IG worthy photos. I know winter is all about being a homebody, but get out there when you can and take 100+ pictures and queue up your drafts for the next few weeks.

Hotels have stepped up their game in the last few years, especially if you live in a metropolitan area. Seriously, hotels are like tiny malls now and are so aesthetic these days. They’re great places to take photos even if you’re not staying in a room. The hotel lobby is really all you need but you can also find some hotels that have moody bars, restaurants, or even pool areas. The Watergate Hotel in DC currently has cute little igloos you can eat and drink in. Can you say a mood?!

Okay, now, let’s talk about what you guys truly love…flat lays! For some reason, flat lays are STILL a whole vibe. Not too long ago, I wrote a post about using clothing with texture to capture great flat lay photos. Also, use materials you already have…you don’t have to purchase much in order to take flat lays photos. Just like you would batch your posts, also batch your flat lays. Sometimes, a miscellaneous blog post will come up and pictures are not necessarily required, but it’s nice to have some sort of visual. Well, that random flat lay you took not too long ago can come in handy. I will take an hour or so every couple of weeks to just gather random products, garments, jewelry, etc and create different flat lays that can be used for blog posts or even Instagram posts.

That’s all I have for today, I hope this was even a little bit helpful to anyone out there. I’m so excited for the last week of 2019 and the upcoming year. I have a feeling 2020 is going to be an amazing year full of so many blessings. However, 2019 isn’t over just yet. Stay tuned for the brand awards in the next few posts!

As Always,

ChelsiKay
