How I’m Going to Get Organized
I’m not at all a naturally organized person, but I strive to be one every single day. I’m not the messiest person either, however, if I’m not mindful of my surroundings, it can get pretty bad. Luckily I usually am mindful and I get a sort of anxiety if my space isn’t neat.
I was the little girl whose parents had to constantly tell her to clean her room. I never understood why; I was just going to dirty up again. I had Barbie dolls strewn all over my bedroom floor. I had glass (actually plastic) beads from those jewelry making kits hidden in little nooks throughout my space. My childhood rooms were pure chaos, at least in my memory.
Every so often my dad would get fed up with my mess and pick everything up off the floor. He’d buy organizers that I could just throw my Barbie dolls into. More often than not, my Barbie dolls would remain laying on the floor waiting for me to play with them the next day. Barbies turned into clothes and real glass beads and yarn and fabric. As a teen, my room was still pure chaos. There was no fixing my messy problem.
Even now, at 25, my room can find its way back to chaos, however, I have learned out some tips and tricks to help me out.
My main trick is just to get rid of it; throw it away if it’s old or not being used. Decluttering as most minimalist call it, only gets you so far though. The act of minimalism (usually decluttering) doesn’t help me to actually be organized. The thought process is, the less you have, the less that needs to be organized. Sure, this can work – absolutely, but what really needs to change are my habits and how I curate my belongings.
Everything has a home. Clothes go in the dresser and the closet. Shoes go on my makeshift shoe rack….which I’m quite proud of BTW. My pens and store cards go in my lazy susan. My issue at this point is…where does all of my miscellaneous “stuff” go? How can I make/create a home for all of this?
With a little bit of each tip and trick that I mentioned above, I’m going to finally get my room organized the way that I really want it. It will be a pretty long process but it will get done. I have already gotten started on some projects and have even purchased some items that will help organize my space. Look out for those blog posts in the near future…I’m very excited to start writing about this, yet again!

Girl I’m excited too! I have the tendency to start the “decluttering process” and then get tired and just leave my Goodwill bag in the garage for an extra three months. Looking forward to these posts because I need them too sis! lol
