Lush (Easy) Travel Essentials
I am currently in New York at BlogHer you guys and what a better time to write a blog post than at a bloggers conference? I’m not exactly listening to the speakers as of right now but I’m waiting for the next panel to come on! Anyway, I had a bit of a packing flub while here and found out that I am not a duffel bag girl AT ALL! Let’s just say my shoulders are very sore and I’ll be taking the subway later…wish me luck. I also didn’t expect all of the swag I got while at the conference and I left NO room in my bag so of course, I had to buy a backpack so that I don’t overfill my duffel bag. Lessons learned, but I do feel like I did figure out a win!
This probably isn’t a new idea but shopping at Lush for a packing trip is genius to me. I want to reduce my liquids while traveling and with natural hair, sensitive skin, and my pretty excessive skincare routine require quite a few liquids. The last thing I want to worry about is soap, lotion, and perfume in liquid form. Lush has bar soap, bar lotion, and solid perfumes! HELLO! I know that it seems that these can take up a lot of space but they do lay flat and that’s a few fewer liquids that you have to worry about going through the TSA line. I’ve never tried Lush’s solid conditioners but I would like to and may need to make a trip to Lush while I’m here in NYC. I’m not expecting AMAZING results or anything but I typically need a copious amount of conditioner for all this thick hair.
Let’s move on to what I got for my big trip, but also have been using for this NYC trip! I went in for Each Peach because it is a GREAT massage and/or lotion bar. The smell is the reason why I got it but also because I don’t have to worry about greasy or sticky lotion. All you have to do is start rubbing to activate the bar and you will be ash free pretty much all day! A little secret “hack” (not really) is that when you apply this bar it somehow keeps away mosquitoes and most bugs really. I’m not too sure what the secret ingredient is that does that sorcery, but I’m here for it!
Of course, I went in for some soap because that’s really what Lush is about for me! I’m pretty sure Outback Mate is a newer soap that I am obsessed with. It cleanses really well, but doesn’t strip and smells minty and fruity. My go to used to be Sexy Peel, but Outback Mate has that beat and I don’t feel bad about it at all! I know people think bar soap can be gross but it’s soap and it theoretically can’t hold in germs especially if you rinse it off first.
Lastly, I got some solid perfume and it’s not Glossier You. The You is by far my favorite fragrance, but I’m really not trying to carry that big bulky bottle in my toiletry bag. The Lush solid perfume in the fragrance All Good Things is a smoky yet sweet scent that has that mysterious scent kind of like the You that I just really love right now.
I want more things that come in solids to be completely honest because having to worry about all of my bottles can be quite annoying. I know there are plenty of tubes and tubs that are available but even having to worry about that can be pretty irritating. Now, of course, I am going to be taking some liquid with me because…shampoo and skincare, but the less, the better!
