Fenty Beauty Match Stix Trio

Just as promised, I’m talking about Fenty Beauty today! Now I had to kind of control myself and not buy a whole new foundation, highlighter or powder. I have all of those things already and I’m completely in love with my current makeup routine. However, I HAD to try something.

Of course, my dear mother was already on it and purchased the Match Stix Trio the day Fenty Beauty was released! I still would like to try the powder highlighters when I get the chance…as if I don’t already have enough highlighters as it is.

So…the Match Stix trio. I think we can all see that this trio is very similar to KKW’s Contour Kit, so let’s get that out of the way. I like both pretty equally, but Fenty Beauty is far more accessible than KKW Beauty. I’m not really going to make any comparisons on the actual products especially the obvious ones but I honestly feel like all these sticks come from the same manufacturer. I may be wrong, but they really are that similar.

Onto the actual product now. Fenty Beauty’s Match Stix Trio retails at $54 which includes a contour stick, a shimmer (highlight) stick and a concealer stick. I believe that you can purchase the sticks separately which retail at $25. Also, the sticks are magnetic!

The Match Stix Trio that I have is in the color Deep which is the darkest of the trios. I will say that besides the contour color the other sticks are pretty light for the darkest shades.

The contour stick: Out of the three, the contour shade (Espresso) is my favorite. I think it’s the perfect size for contouring and once it’s blended out, it gives such a nice soft chiseled natural contour. I am definitely more of a powder contour girl, but I’m a huge fan of this creamy contour.

The highlight stick: I feel like I’m a highlight expert at this point…okay not really. So I like the way this highlighter (Sinamon) looks when I first apply it, but once blended it kind of just disappears. I definitely don’t mind a natural highlight for during the day, but this appears more like a bronzer. I still like it, however, I would probably go for a different shade next time. Also, I think I’ll stick to powder highlighters from now on. Fenty Beauty has a powder highlighter that I have my eye on…and it’s not Trophy Wife.

The Concealer Stick: Okay…I’m not a fan of this concealer (Suede), especially for the Deep colored trio. I wore it yesterday and it made my under eyes so oily. Also, I appeared very ashy looking and I know that was probably due to the shade. Today I went with my normal concealer and liked how my skin looked a WHOLE lot better.

Overall, I like this trio minus the concealer…so the duo. The natural contour and highlight are perfect for those days I don’t feel like doing my full makeup routine but still, want to look somewhat alive. If you’re still deciding on buying the trio, I would probably look into getting the individual Match Stix just so you don’t end up with a color that isn’t fitting for you. I do recommend the contour stick for sure without a doubt!

I hope to try some of the other products within this amazing beauty line. I may get a sample of the foundation because I’m very curious to see if they have my perfect shade! Thanks for reading, as usual, you guys. Check back Friday for another fashion post!
