Time for a Routine

So I’m not the cleanest person…wait scratch that! I’m not the most organized person in the world. Hell, I’m not really organized at all actually. I looked to minimalism to help me get more organized but still seemed to have random clutter in random places in my bedroom. My surfaces never stay decluttered for long and I always ask myself why this is? It’s always things like nail clippers, tweezers, Tylenol, store cards, pens and the such – things that I do actually use.

The other day I noticed that one of my friends was regimented in EVERYTHING that she did as far as picking up her room. I have to admit I was a little jealous. I thought about it for a while and realized that I don’t really have a routine to keep my room organized. I’ll be honest I don’t make my bed up, I don’t vacuum every week and I don’t have a specific place for everything. That’s not to say that everything is just strewn all over my bedroom for no rhyme or reason, but sometimes I just forget to or am too lazy to put things back where they belong.

So, this means that I need to develop some sort of a routine to keep my room more organized. I mean I have a skincare routine that I stick to religiously as well as a hair care and laundry routine, so why wouldn’t I have a set cleaning/organizing routine? I’m on a mission now. I plan on making a checklist and sticking to it until my routine becomes a habit. I’m not looking to make things perfect, but I do want to make things much more organized than they are now.

I’m so serious about this, that I even started today…baby steps of course. I got up and stretched, like actual stretches. Then, I made my bed and I NEVER make my bed. Yes, I’m one of those people who thinks “I’m getting right back into later…why bother?” Making my bed made my room look instantly tidier, but I definitely need more pillows.

So with all that being said, this week I’m going to spend some time making a routine for myself to get this organization ball rolling. I think doing this will also help with my minimalism journey. I hope this works out for me because this was a long time coming but I just didn’t know how to go about it!

Thanks for reading!
