Early Spring Cleaning?

So it’s that time…at least for me, it is. It’s that time that I get a bit antsy and I start randomly decluttering or maybe it’s actually not that random. I’m not just decluttering; I’m redecorating as well. A couple of weeks ago I purchased new towels to match my dark purple bathroom and new sheets that are t-shirt soft.

It was time for all of these new things because it’s been a couple of years and after awhile things start to look (and feel) kind of stale. I also purchased some marble contact paper and repurposed my nightstand. These little changes have really changed the way my bedroom and bathroom look now. In the next few weeks, I should be going on an Ikea run to purchase a couple of open storage items (LACK Shelves, Kallax etc.) that will make my room look even more polished.

As for my wardrobe, that is still a work in progress but it is slowly coming together. I could stand to get rid of certain shirts that I haven’t really worn. I could also use a pair of pants and a new pair of jeans – maybe a light wash pair? I don’t really wear skirts, but I’m all for trying them out at some point.

Two days ago I purchased some Nike sneakers that were just too cute to pass up. They can be worn for style and athletic reasons – so they’re automatically versatile. When I got back I got rid of at least four pairs of sneakers that I no longer wear anymore. I haven’t decided if I’m going to sell one of the pairs because they have been sitting in my closet for years now and are damn near in perfect condition.

Even though I am still purchasing what seems like a bunch of things, I am constantly throwing out things that I don’t need or no longer use or never used. I’m also organizing everything all the time. One thing that always helps is to always tell myself that everything should have a place that it goes back to.

All of these things I’ve been doing for a month or so have helped me to live simply and a little more minimal. I have really been attracted to things that are curated and polished in all aspects of my life. It started with my wardrobe and trickled into the rest of my room. Who knows what will be curated next?
